Second-ranked King Philip forced Carangelo to make a number of acrobatic saves, one in which the ball knocked the glove off her hand in the second half. But Carangelo stopped them all and No. 10 Foxborough (9-1-1) made a first-half goal by Sophia Lowe stand up to secure a spot in the Division 2 South tournament. ‘‘King Philip has a great arsenal of shooters,’’ said Foxborough coach Melissa Bordieri. ‘‘Julia kept her focus while clearing the ball out of her zone and her clears allowed us to at least transition from defense to offense and get something going.’’ Advertisement Foxborough fed off of Carangelo’s ability to reverse the tempo whenever King Philip (9-1-1) tried to steal momentum. Foxborough, which finished with only two corners, took advantage of one of its few offensive opportunities with under six minutes left in the first half. The shot ricocheted in front of the goal and, in the midst of a number of defenders, Lowe knifed in to score the only goal.
